Notification of Improved Provider Directory Searching
Incident Report for Updox-Partners
Resolved
Dear Partners,

This is a reminder that the Updox Provider Directory Version 2.0. is coming soon. Starting on December 13, 2019 Updox will start filtering the data we publish to Direct Trust.

What’s Changing?

Updox has been working with DirectTrust and their member HISPs to improve the directory experience. As the use of direct messaging has matured, it’s become clear that more information is needed to help customers find the Direct addresses they need. Version 1.0 was basic and accepted entries with minimal information (e.g. name and direct address).

Version 2.0 will contain more up-to-date and complete information. Also, in Version 2.0, an address can only be included in the directory if all mandatory fields are present.

Although our search tool is important to delivering this information, more importantly, the quality of the data in the directory is key.

This is where you come in. We need you to update your Direct messaging API integration to submit the following information on all new and existing practices and users. If the integration does not provide this information, your providers’ addresses will not be published in the directory.

Fields marked with an * are mandatory for inclusion in the directory.

APIs: PracticeCreate, PracticeSave, and PracticeUpdate
- Practice Name*
- Practice Address*
- Practice City*
- Practice State*
- Practice Zip*
- Practice NPI (if possible)
- Practice specialty NUCC code (if possible)

APIs: UserCreate, UserSave, UserUpdate
- User First Name*
- User Last Name*
- User NPI (when applicable and if possible)
- User specialty NUCC code (when applicable and if possible)

FAQ:
Q> Will this mean direct messaging will fail if we don’t make the change?
A> No. Inclusion in the directory is not a requirement for the use of direct messaging.

Q> How quickly does this change need to be made?
A> As soon as possible to make sure your clients’ addresses can be found by other providers

Q> I already sync this information. Do I need to do anything?
A> If these fields are not mandatory in the EHR you should send a message out to your clients to instruct them to make sure this demographic information is correct.

Q> Will the API calls fail if the information is not present?
A> No, The API calls have not changed. No new validation errors should be expected.
